Titans make Jeffery Simmons the Highest Paid DT in NFL History
BREAKING NEWS: The Titans retain a great player!
This may be a jab, but this is worth celebrating. It has been awhile since the Titans made an effort to keep their best players, but they get it done with DT Jeffery Simmons.
Simmons, who was the 19th pick of round 1 in the 2019 NFL Draft, has proved himself to be a top tier Defensive Tackle in the NFL - arguably the best. Simmons breaks the bank by breaking a record setting deal worth up to $105.8 Million for 3 years.
The record setting pay day has been overdue as Simmons just broke the Titans Franchise record by sacks in a season with 11 sacks from the DT position - surpassing Jurrell Casey who has 10.5 sacks. Jeffery Simmons has notched himself his first NFL All-Pro this past season along with his 4th Pro-Bowl appearance.
In the 2025 season alone, Simmons led the DT position in the following: - 39 Solo Tackles - 17 Tackles for a loss - 11 Sacks - 79.0 QB Sack Yards - 60 QB Pressures - 14.5% Pressure Rate - 3 Forced Fumbles (Tied NFL top)
These stats solidify Jeffery Simmons as the dominant threat (DT) in the defensive tackle group in the NFL. The scary thing is, Simmons said this about his star- status so far: "My job isn't finished."
Titans general manager Mike Borgonzi had this to say about Simmons: "Jeffery Simmons is a pillar for our franchise and embodies what it means to be a Titan. He's the premier defensive tackle in the National Football League and you win with players like Jeffery. Not only is his leadership on the field what we want our program to represent, but off the field, he sets the standard for our community."
Borgonzi continues by saying "You always want to keep your best players and we accomplished that today. We're excited for Jeffery to be here in Nashville for the long haul."
That comment should bring smiles to every Titans Fan face. It has been awhile since there was a regime in place set on keeping it's best players and they got the biggest pillar secured today by extending Jeffery Simmons to a record breaking deal.
The tides are changing. Titan Up.
